In this jazz piano lesson, harmony and theory lesson, we’ll explore a 5-chord progression in the key of D minor, set to a medium hip-hop/jazz groove.
We’ll first learn voicings for all 5-chords, then move on to the underlying theory by examining how each chord relates to its parent Major or minor scale. We’ll also briefly cover how to add some variety to your chord strikes.
At the end, I’ll break free from the pre-determined voicings and demo a bit of improvisation over the progression to give you an idea of where you can take things in the future.
