Improvisation #2 in F# Major
Here’s a new improvisation for you! I really like the brightness of the Rhodes sound on this one, and the tremolo adds some motion during the long chords. There are some similarities to my last jazz/classical improvisation recording—it ends up landing on the same key at the end—but it’s more jazzy in style and ornamentation. The harmony is more unsettled; it takes about 2/3 of the performance to really find a home key, and before that I’m really searching for the next chord, and really going to a lot of different dark and mysterious places. It ends on a bright note however, which feels very satisfying after traveling such a circuitous path on the way.
